Final Apprentice Evaluation By Kim Andrews
Over this past semester, I have been working with Mrs. Womble’s 2nd grade class at Tritt Elementary. I have developed a very special relationship with each and every student. Before this semester started, I was unsure and unclear about what I wanted to be and do when I grow up. I decided to take this opportunity to see if I had a future in teaching. The minute I walked into the classroom, I knew that that was what I wanted to do. I remember going home that night and telling my mom how much I wanted to teach. My whole perspective on life has changed, because I never knew that I could adapt to strangers so easily. Also, I never thought about how decisions that I made, reflected the kind of person that people thought of me. Everyday brings new surprises, and I think that that is what I love about it. When I go to Tritt, I teach math. This is good for me, because math was never one of my strong subjects. I always feel like I learn so much from these kids. They are so special to me. The cool thing about them is that they are so smart, and they all want to learn. At the beginning of the year, all of the classes were on the same pace with math, but now I can successfully say that they are way ahead. While other classes are learning to add and subtract, my class is learning to carry numbers and regroup, as well as multiplying. I am just so grateful that I have been given this opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, and to have so many young people make such an impact on my life. Also, I am really appreciative that I got to work with Mrs. Womble, because she is an excellent teacher, and I hope that one day I can be at least half as good as she is. Lastly, I would like to thank you, Mrs. Smith, for letting me be apart of this program, because it allowed me to realize how much I want to teach. I believe that without all of you that I might never have found out what I really wanted to do with my life. Yet, now I know and I couldn’t be happier. I just can’t wait until it is my turn to have an apprentice, so that another young persons dreams can come true like mine have. |
