Anxious and Excited Anxious and excited, I think the happiest day of my life was my Bat- Mitzvah. To live up to my parent’s exceptions, I had to practice regularly. In my mind, I just wanted to conclude with the service and proceed with the party. This was exceptionally great, because all my family and friends could be there to share it with me. Hopefully, my parents were admirable of me for all the effort I put toward making this day as special as it was. Practicing was not my favorite thing to do, but I knew I didn’t want to make a fool of myself. I had lessons every week, for and hour and it finally paid off. Now that I think about it I remember all the times when I wanted to quit Hebrew school. Yet, my parents always said," If you quit now you will never get to be bat-mitzvah." When I began studying for this day, I thought, " I am never going to learn all of this!" My tutor began actively working with me about six months before the big day. To help plan for this event she put all my songs, prayers, and any other Hebrew part on tape so I could practice at home. I was to study for an hour everyday, in order for me to improve. Preparing for March 28 took a lot of time and planning. My mom had to arrange all the party details, and I was still studying and trying to pick out the perfect dress. Since my dad was always at work, he was little or no help in arranging this out, but it did come from his bank account! I had to choose everything from the dinner menus to the invitations. Each thing was complete. The thing I remember the most was not the gifts, but everyone who came and I had not seen in so long. It was the happiest day ever, because I was with all the people I love the greatest. I even got to dance with a very special person. Also, I did dance with my dad. I saw that hard work really does pay off. Now I know that things more blissful might come along, but this will always be particular place in my heart and my memories. |
